BAPTO 2009 RE-LOCATION . 9/9/09

You may have heard on the news that the Pontins centre in Blackpool is permanently shutting down on 3rd October - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/8244187.stm

This has directly effected our competition and means we have to re-locate to a new venue.

Pontins closure has come as complete surprise to us - we were only informed yesterday afternoon (8/9/09) after it had been released in the media.

Please do not panic - any monies paid to Pontins and BAPTO is completely safe. They are only closing the Blackpool centre, as it is not profitable enough - the land is owned by a private company who lease it to Pontins. This lease is up for re-newel on the 3rd October and Pontins have decided not to re-new the lease, hence the early closure.

We are currently in talks with Pontins to see if we can move to another Pontins site and also researching other possible venues in the Blackpool area.

All we ask is that any teams who have paid for their accommodation and registration sit tight for now and wait to see what alternative options we have before making any decisions. This years tournament has had an overwhelming response and is going to be the busiest yet and we are determined that it will go ahead and if possible, on the same dates.

If any teams have not yet entered, please send your registration forms ASAP, as we need to know how many teams are intending to come, as this affects our choice of venue. So far, we have almost 90 teams registered.

I will be posting regular updates on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=55002091613&ref=mf and also www.bapto.org.uk and www.poolpockets.co.uk/bapto - please visit Facebook to join any discussions etc

Thanking you for your patience in this matter and we.ll update our situation soon.
